Return Policy

The original sales receipt must accompany books being returned for credit, refund, and/or exchange.  A restocking fee will always apply.

(A.) One month or 30 days prior to the beginning of the fall, spring and summer classes, books may be purchased for that semester; however, any textbook returned after the actual date of purchase and up until the first day of the semester, will be assessed a restocking fee of $5.00 per book and $1.00 per packet.  The books being returned must be in the same condition as when originally purchased or a percentage will be deducted in addition to the restocking fee.

(B.)  If you're returning books within the first two weeks of classes (drop/add period) and they were purchased within 30 working days prior to the start of the semester, an 80% refund/credit will apply providing the books are in the same condition as when purchased.  The restocking fee will also apply.

(C.) Any book purchased after the start date of the fall, spring and/or summer semester may be returned with receipt for a refund up to five working days after the purchase date; however, there will be a restocking fee and the book must be in the same condition as when purchased or a percentage will be deducted in addition to the restocking fee.

(D.) If a student is switching programs within the first two weeks (drop/add period) they are able to exchange books within the same transaction purchased for that same semester and only the restocking fee will apply as long as the books are in the same condition as when purchased at the bookstore.  If they are not returned in the same condition, an additional percentage will be deducted from the exchange.

(E.)  The third week of classes (after the drop/add period) there are no refunds unless a drop slip is presented to the bookstore staff.  If a drop slip is presented within the third week of classes, a 50% refund/credit will apply in addition to the restocking fee.

Books not meeting the return policy criteria identified above may be reviewed for cash buyback at the end of the semester.  No receipt is necessary for end-of-semester book buyback for cash.  This is normally scheduled for the last five days of the fall and spring semesters.  Watch for advertisements closer to that time.

~ Refunds for books purchased with cash, check, credit card or debit card will be processed either by check or account credit.  Processing a check refund normally takes two weeks.

~ New textbooks with publishing defects can be exchanged at the time it is discovered with receipt of purchase from Southwest Tech Bookstore.
